We see you…
I love getting into a conversation with folks in the shop that goes beyond “how was your weekend.” In the past week or two the most lovely people have shared with me stories of their sister and her wife getting married (and the family drama that went with it), shown me pictures of their gorgeous nephew in drag (I obviously showed pics of myself too), and asked how their trans son can get a summer job at the cheese shop. It’s incredibly moving to me that they decide to share, and that I get to be the one to cheer on their loved one for being who they are and living out loud.
It feels like something that goes beyond allyship - something more like kinship. It feels like folks are choosing to come to our shop to support not just our family, but the queer community at large.
If you’re reading this, I want you to know that Joe and I see you, all of you, and we care about you, as individuals and as a collective of humans standing for the right to exist just as we are in this world.
We’ve always wanted the cheese shop to be a safe space especially for the queer community, but over the last two years (can you believe it’s been that long already?!), I’ve come to realize how important the cheese shop is to our allies as well.
Thank you as always for your support. Of our shop, of our family, and of our community.
xoxo,
Scott
