Autumn Sangria

We serve this at Thanksgiving; but drink it up all season long

Autumn Sangria

Soaking the fruit makes for a potent treat.

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup dark rum

  • 1/4 cup grand marnier

  • 1 apple, cored and chopped

  • 1 orange, quartered and sliced

  • 3 cinnamon sticks, more for serving if you want

  • 1 bottle of red wine (any old thing works, really)

  • 2 cups apple cider

  • ice

Dissolve the sugar in the rum and grand marnier in a pitcher or punch bowl.

Add the apples, oranges, and cinnamon sticks and stir to combine. Refrigerate for one hour.

After an hour, stir in the wine and apple cider, and refrigerate for another hour.

Serve over ice, making sure to get some fruit in each glass, and garnish with a cinnamon stick if you’re in the mood (if not, who cares?)
