Our boy is turning seven!!
Our boy is turning seven this week - it seems unbelievable - but you won’t find any “it’s going by so quickly” cliches around here. Our family has come a long way, and this is one big cheesy celebration of all we have accomplished together throughout seven years of unconditional love.
Almost more unbelievable, and almost as important, is that this week Michael started trying new foods. As the child of a couple of foodies, this is truly eventful for us!
We are talking about someone with a long list of things he doesn’t eat. No not just the typical steamed broccoli or boiled eggs, we hear big fat NOs to chocolate, cake, cookies, and ice cream - and those are just the sweet things!
There is something momentous afoot because over the last week Michael ate his first cheeseburger, Oreos, meatballs, and taco with toppings (well, a bite anyway).
As he grows up before our eyes, we know that he will always be changing. Yes because he is a child, but also because he is a person living and learning in this great big world.
Another cliche is that children teach you more than you teach them, but this is a cliche we gladly embrace. It’s our hope that in his eighth year of life, our boy inspires us (and you) to being open to trying new things, to remember to embrace the good things our parents have taught us, and to get rid of the things we might not like after all.
Happy Birthday, Michael.
xoxo,
Scott & Joe
