Make December Wonder-Full

Each season we come up with a theme to guide our work in the cheese shop. It was “We’re Thank-FULL for You” in the fall and “Padam, Padam” in the summer.

For the holiday season, we borrowed from ourselves and are calling it “The Most Wonder-FULL Time of Year”. Now to me, trying to make something the MOST wonderful thing sounds like a lot of pressure, which is why we are emphasizing FULL instead - in all its forms.

One thing that helps accomplish this is good list. For me, making plans means something will actually happen, so this year I wanted to share a few things we have planned to make our season wonder-FULL.

But also, please remember that while I hope our list inspires you, it’s ok if it doesn’t. You can also do little to nothing and have a lovely December. No pressure. Really.

Here it is:

6 Things to Make December Wonder-FULL

  1. Decorating the tree with nostalgic musing in the background and drinks in hand. Joe is making punch his mother used to make that includes fruit punch, ginger ale and rainbow sherbet. I’ll do my usual store bought eggnog spiked with organic rum from my friend Maggie, and shaved nutmeg on top.

  2. Driving around to see the best holiday lights on houses. I hear a map of the best in Hudson Valley and our village will be out soon.

  3. Going to the Nyack Holiday Lights celebration.

  4. Attending a local production of The Nutcracker.

  5. Taking an after Christmas Day trip to the mountains with our family.

  6. Sending Christmas cards with fresh photos of Michael - this year’s theme is tinsel. Sneak peek here:

It’s not toooo exciting of a list, and I like it that way. Seems doable and fun. That’s the idea. Wonder-FULL.

xoxo,
Scott
