Why Nyack Feels Like One Big, Cheesy Hug

To be honest, I don’t leave my corner of Broadway and Main all that often. What can I say? It feels like home here, and all of you lovely, lovely people come to me most of the time. But last night, I was so happy to trek down to the lower altitude of South Broadway for the little opening celebration of By Land and Sea.

It fills me with an immense amount of joy to see other entrepreneurs and small business owners in our little village succeed. I’m so proud of all that Lindsay has done to enhance the legacy of Maria Luisa and carry it on in her own way.

Tonight, I’m going with lots of friends (and I’m sure I’ll see plenty of cheese-loving folks there too) to the high school production of The Prom – a musical that, not to spoil the whole thing, is pretty damn gay.

Being a part of our community day in and day out is meaningful and quite literally moves me to tears when I think about it. I know it’s not just us; we embrace each other. We embrace other small businesses. We embrace great restaurants. We embrace the children who are making art. We’re just like one big, giant, goddamn hug. If I wasn’t in the business of being cheesy, it might make me seem a little too sappy, but this is what you get here, folks.

So, today it’s gonna be like 80°, so you should go out, support some local businesses – ours included – and maybe take in a show. Happy Saturday!

xoxo,
Scott
